MUCHAS GRACIAS

img_1389As we begin the last week in Granada, I start to think about going home and telling my parents about my trip. I think about what I can take home that will suffice as a thank you for the opportunity they gave me.

Studying abroad in Spain has not only been an incredible experience but also an eye-opening and intriguing one. I could go through all of my memories and try to describe what they were like, but it would not be the same. To keep it simple I can tell you that this trip has been like no other and one we will not forget. Having the opportunity to study abroad has broadened our visions of the world. It has brought light to new cultures and histories, sparked a desire to learn new languages and created memories to last a lifetime.

Not only have we learned a lot of Spanish and history but also how to accept different concepts, rather than make comparisons. We have grown to appreciate little luxuries such as air conditioning, while learning to live without it. Also, this trip has brought me to treasure my parents more than ever but realize what it is like to be away from them. Never having been away from either of them for more than two weeks, I thought it would be hard. However, I embraced the opportunity and found a way to channel all of my emotions and energy into having a good experience. Occasionally, I missed my parents and wished I could be at home with them, but then I thought of how grateful I am that they gave me the opportunity to come on this trip and how privileged I am to be able to live in a different country and experience the culture while being fully immersed in the language.

There are many people who will never get to experience what we all have on this trip. This is all the more reason to be thankful to our parents who opened this door, which we have all enjoyed journeying through and will in fact open more doors in the future. Therefore, on behalf of all of us on the Summer 2, Granada, Spain trip, a big Thank You to all of the parents and people who helped to send us to Granada for an amazing summer together, we cannot thank you enough!
