Teams were chosen, alliances were made. Vests were fastened, guns held patiently at our sides waiting in anticipation. Directions spoken in French, then we were shut into a room lit only by black lights, neon paint and the occasional arrow guiding you through the maze.
Goal: find cover, and hit the enemy as much as possible. Avoid: hitting your teammates, and getting hit….. avoid losing life….85% life left and no teammate in sight, shoot just barely missed getting hit, I have to stake out a hide out. Go up the ramp, constantly checking my surroundings to avoid getting hit, yes finally staked spot. Half wall to my right, boxed from behind and to the left open in front to the ramp, easy access to lost enemies. Rebecca and I own the ramp, Kat joins us, great a moan from the enemy means target hit, a groan here means success, you name becomes a curse and a blessing. Automatic move up on their target list. A hit here, miss there…. life slowly draining away. Don’t shoot your teammates, hit only on the vest or gun….. Not that difficult… who would have thought a game played in a dark maze, with a group of friends, and the want to win… to beat the other ” teams” could he so enduring, so mind boggling, so fun. My first experience playing laser tag was one the will always remain ingrained in my brain… the sadness I felt when it was all over, the fun I had while playing, and he want to play again. My only suggestion would be to wear dark colors when you play… ( although who wouldn’t enjoy having their enemy dress in all white or partial white… I mean easier target right?) We all would love at least one easy win wouldn’t we?
